Position: Software Developer (Ruby-on-Rails)

Job Description:
BarZ Adventures is a tourism technology company that creates GPS and location-aware, multimedia tour guide systems. We’re looking for a software developer to work on our GoExplore® Media Server CMS which is a Ruby-on-Rails (3.1) application platform. The Media Server platform allows our clients to build rich multi-media data sets, serves those data sets out to client branded mobile apps on iOS and Android, and facilitates location-based and indexed delivery of content. Additionally, the Media Server provides an AMQP/MQ based API end-point that facilitates data management and flow from our larger clients.

This is a full-time employment position with benefits but will consider a full-time contract.

Desired Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of Ruby-On-Rails framework, experience with Rails 3.1 preferable
  • Experience with message queuing and familiarity with AMQP / RabbitMQ a big plus
  • JavaScript, HTML, CSS
  • Data architecture knowledge for both transactional and reporting systems
  • Knowledge of user interface design for desktop and mobile browsers
  • Familiarity with Heroku and Amazon AWS platforms
  • Some practical experience with production systems planning and maintenance in cloud-based deployment profiles

iPhone, Android or Cloud computing service experience will also be pluses.
